How to Connect Facebook and Instagram for Ads

Learn two ways to connect Facebook and Instagram — in Business Manager or the Instagram app — and why this link is critical for effective artist ad campaigns.

If you’re running ads as an artist, connect Facebook and Instagram before anything else. Without this link, your Instagram profile won’t appear in Ads Manager, and “boosts” are as far as you’ll get. When you connect Facebook and Instagram, you unlock shared audiences, tracking, and seamless campaign management across both platforms.

Why connecting matters

  • Run ads across Facebook and Instagram from one place after you connect Facebook and Instagram.
  • Share audiences, pixels, and tracking data for smarter retargeting.
  • Manage permissions, Pages, and ad accounts cleanly inside Meta.

Method 1: Connect inside Meta Business Manager

  • Log into business.facebook.com with your Facebook profile.
  • Open Business Settings.
  • Go to Accounts → Instagram Accounts.
  • Click Add and log in with your Instagram username and password.
  • Assign the Instagram profile to your Business Portfolio and Ad Account.

Use this method if you’re already organizing assets in a Business Portfolio. It keeps Pages, Instagram profiles, ad accounts, and pixels under one roof.

Method 2: Connect inside the Instagram app

  • Open Instagram and go to your profile.
  • Tap Menu → Settings & Privacy.
  • Under Account, select Sharing to Other Apps (or Linked Accounts).
  • Choose Facebook and log in.
  • Select the Facebook Page you want connected.

This is a quick way to connect Facebook and Instagram when you’re starting out. Long-term, bring that Instagram account into Business Manager so ads, permissions, and pixels stay organized.

Why this step is critical

  • Without the connection, you can’t select your Instagram profile in Ads Manager.
  • You lose shared data (custom audiences, pixel events) across platforms.
  • Permissions get messy if you collaborate with a team.

With the connection in place, you can build integrated campaigns across both platforms, retarget fans who interact anywhere, and avoid the boosting trap. Bottom line: connect Facebook and Instagram first, then scale.
