How to Grant Facebook & Instagram Access to Your Advertiser (Without Losing Control)

A guide for artists ready to advertise — how to grant access without handing over your whole account.

If you’re past the “boosting posts” phase and ready to take advertising seriously, you need to be using Meta’s Ads Manager. That’s where real growth happens: creating custom audiences, running retargeting campaigns, and getting your videos in front of fans who’ve already seen you.

But Ads Manager is complicated. If you’re new to it, you’re probably going to want help — someone who can run ads for you without needing full control over your personal accounts.

That’s exactly what Facebook Business Manager was built for.

The Goal: Shared Access, Not Shared Passwords

Your advertiser doesn’t need your login info. Instead, they’ll request access to your Facebook Page through Business Manager. If your Instagram is connected to your Facebook, access to both is handled in one move.

But there are two parts to this process — and this is where most people get stuck:

  • The advertiser must send a proper request from Business Manager.
  • You, the artist, must find and accept that request on your end.

And trust us: finding the request is often the hardest part.

Step 1: Advertiser Requests Access to Your Facebook Page

Here’s what your advertiser should do:

  • Log in at business.facebook.com.
  • Go to Business Settings > Accounts > Pages.
  • Click the Add button, then choose Request Access to a Page.
  • Paste in your Facebook Page URL.
  • Select Partial Access (recommended) and submit the request.

This gives them access to post content, run ads, and view insights — everything they need, nothing they don’t.

Step 2: You Accept the Request

Now it’s your turn. Here’s how to find and approve the access request.

On Desktop:

  • Log into your personal Facebook account.
  • Click your profile picture (top right), then select See All Profiles.
  • Switch to your artist Facebook Page.
  • Go to Settings > Page Access.
  • Scroll to Pending access requests and click Review Request.
  • Click Next, then Accept.
  • Enter your Facebook password to confirm.

Done. The advertiser now has permission to run your campaigns.

Step 3: Advertiser Must Assign Team Members

Once the business account has access to your Page, nothing happens until the advertiser assigns specific people on their team to manage your assets.

They must:

  • Go to Business Settings > Accounts > Pages.
  • Click on your Page.
  • Click Assign People, choose the right person, and select Content, Ads and Insights.

This step is required — otherwise, even with access, the advertiser’s team won’t be able to see or touch your account.

The same applies to Instagram if it’s been shared as an asset.

Want to Grant Instagram Access Directly?

Sometimes Meta is glitchy and doesn’t recognize your linked Instagram account. In that case, you’ll need to manually share Instagram access with the advertiser.

  • Go to Meta Business Suite > Settings > Instagram Accounts.
  • Click the Instagram you want to share.
  • Click Assign Partners.
  • Enter the advertiser’s Business ID (a 15-digit number).
  • Select Content, Ads and Insights, then confirm.

Then the advertiser needs to assign the right team members — just like with the Facebook Page.

Facebook Partner Access (Advanced)

If you’re working with a manager or label using Business Manager, they can share entire Business Accounts instead of just Pages. This makes it easier to handle multiple artists from one place.

  • Go to Partners.
  • Click Add, then Ask a partner to share their assets.
  • Enter the partner’s info and select what you want access to.
